By using Yap Royale, you agree to these terms. Please read them before entering the arena.
Yap Royale is an educational and entertainment platform that allows users to engage in simulated debates and conversations with language model representations of historical figures. The platform is operated by Yap Royale, Inc. and is available at yaproyale.com and related subdomains.
By creating an account or using the platform in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
All figures depicted on Yap Royale are historical persons who are deceased. We do not simulate, impersonate, or create representations of any living person, any person whose estate retains active legal representation over their likeness or intellectual property, or any public figure whose estate has formally objected to a simulation of their person.
Conversations with these figures are fictional reconstructions generated by a large language model. They are not statements or communications of the actual historical person, are not endorsed by or affiliated with any estates or heirs of the depicted persons, and are intended for educational, critical, and entertainment purposes only.
The model may express views inconsistent with the historical record. It may speculate, extrapolate, or be factually incorrect. Do not treat these responses as authoritative historical scholarship.
We do not intend to defame, misrepresent, or damage the reputation of any person, living or deceased. If you believe any content on the platform misrepresents a historical figure in a harmful or defamatory way, contact us at legal@yaproyale.com.
You must be at least 13 years old to use this platform. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. Teachers who purchase classroom subscriptions represent that they are authorized to enter into agreements on behalf of their institution and that student users in their cohort meet the age requirement.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You may not share your account or allow others to access it. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Classroom cohort access is tied to a teacher's active subscription — if a subscription lapses, student access may be revoked.
Use the platform for personal learning, classroom instruction, research, and entertainment. Share screenshots or excerpts of conversations with appropriate attribution and context. Provide feedback on the responses you receive.
Use the platform to generate content designed to harass, defame, or harm any person, living or deceased. Attempt to make the system produce content that impersonates a living person in a harmful or misleading way. Use the platform to generate disinformation or content designed to deceive others into believing its output is authentic historical record. Scrape or reproduce the platform's content at scale for commercial purposes without written permission. Attempt to reverse engineer or manipulate the system. Share login credentials or classroom codes with unauthorized users.
You are responsible for complying with your institution's academic integrity policies when using content generated by this platform in academic work.
Credits are a virtual currency used to access conversations. Credits are purchased in fixed bundles and are not refundable except as required by law. Purchased credits do not expire. Free or promotional credits expire 90 days from the date of grant.
Teacher subscriptions are billed per seat, either monthly or annually, and renew automatically. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused subscription time except as required by applicable law.
We may, at our discretion, grant free credits or complimentary subscription access to individual users or educators. These grants are not transferable and subject to expiration terms disclosed at time of grant.
We reserve the right to change our prices at any time. We will provide at least 30 days' notice before price changes take effect for existing subscribers.
The platform, its design, software, and model configurations are owned by Yap Royale, Inc. The historical figures' names and their historical writings may be in the public domain, but our specific configurations, interfaces, and derivative content are proprietary. You retain no ownership over generated conversation output, but you may use it for personal, educational, and noncommercial purposes consistent with these Terms.
We do not sell your personal data. Conversation data may be used to improve the platform unless you opt out in your account settings. Contact us at support@yaproyale.com with any privacy questions.
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS." WE MAKE NO WARRANTIES ABOUT THE ACCURACY OF GENERATED CONTENT, ITS FITNESS FOR ANY PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR ITS UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, YAP ROYALE, INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Yap Royale, Inc. is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law principles.

These rules apply to all users in addition to the Terms above. Violations may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account without refund.
Treat history seriously.The platform is for learning and exploration, not mockery. Don't use it to produce content designed to humiliate or dehumanize historical figures.
Don't fish for extremism. Intentionally prompting the system to produce hateful, violent, or extremist content — even through historical framing — is prohibited.
Label generated content clearly. When sharing conversations outside the platform, make clear the content is generated and not a real historical record.
No living figures. Do not attempt to prompt these figures to impersonate, speak as, or roleplay as any living person.
Respect your classroom.Students in teacher cohorts are bound by their institution's code of conduct in addition to these rules. Teachers are responsible for appropriate use within their cohorts.
Report problems. If you encounter output that seems harmful, factually egregious, or inappropriate, email support@yaproyale.com.
